National Family Literacy Month, November, 2019
In Partnership with the Mandel Public Library of WPB
Friday Mornings in November, 10 am (Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 15, Nov. 22)
Bring your children (ages 2-6) to hear a special storyteller and create an art project in the inspiring setting of the Environmental Classroom surrounded by nature, music, science and art, as well as the nine monumental sculptures of Ann Norton.
Here are a few things to do at home during National Family Literacy Month:
- Set aside a little time for reading every day, even if it is only 15 or so minutes. Even if your child is a baby, just looking at pictures and hearing your voice can have a profound effect on your child’s learning later in life.
- Read the book version of your child’s favorite movie to them.
- Participate in our ANSG book drive and donate old or used books you no longer need. This will help families in need read to their kids.
Remember, reading helps with vocabulary, writing skills, attention span, memory and teaches us about other times and places.
Be a great example and read in our garden space and let your children enjoy unusual garden reading nooks, designed just for them.
*Chaperones must remain with their children at all times when visiting the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens.
