In 1948, the widowed Ralph Norton married Ann Weaver, whom he met when he appointed her as the first female sculpture instructor at the Norton Museum of Art. That same year, Ralph Norton commissioned Wyeth to design an artist studio as a gift to his bride.
Today, the studio provides visitors with a transformational image of the petite artist at work and offers an intimate look into her artistic process in its intended setting. The space carries the distinct presence of the artist, almost as if she momentarily left her work in progress. The Artist Studio serves as a centerpiece for cultural and educational programming for students and adults.
