ANN NORTON SCULPTURE GARDENS & PALM BEACH COUNTY LITERACY COALITION CELEBRATE LITERACY AND NATIONAL BOOK MONTH
Palm Beach, FL (October 14, 2008) – The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens and the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition has announced a new initiative, “Literacy Days at the Gardens.”
For this important program, the Sculpture Gardens will partner with the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition and host 800 children in the gardens to celebrate literacy with story times, book-making, visiting authors/illustrators and live story book characters.
The Ann Norton Sculpture Garden’s second annual Festival of the Trees “Books Come Alive" featuring 25 decorated trees in the themes of classic and contemporary children's literature will serve as the back drop for this magical event.
The program will then continue each Wednesday in January from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM to promote literacy for National Book Month. National Book Month encourages readers of all ages to explore further reading for themselves and their families.
The mission of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens is to preserve the original intent and integrity of the historic site for the appreciation of the community as well as to create an environment to promote artistic growth, inspiration and enjoyment for everyone. The mission of the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition is to improve the quality of life in our community by promoting and achieving literacy. The mutual goal between the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden and the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition is to create universal literacy in Palm Beach County to ensure that every child and every adult becomes A READER.
