This one of a kind program provides over 300 Title 1 and other area students with new and creative approaches to reading and the written word while travelling through the 1.7 acre Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. Nationally recognized authors and illustrators will attend the event, joining local law enforcement, librarians and artists.
Children will take part in interactive story making, poetry, visual and performing activities designed to inspire a love of reading and writing, and a desire to embrace the power of literacy.
Literacy Days is made possible by the generosity of Cynthia Sulzberger.
Teachers and students alike voted it their favorite school visit and can’t wait to return next year.
“Thank you for an absolutely fabulous field trip! In my 16 years of teaching, I believe it is the best I have ever had the pleasure of attending. All staff and students agree with me on that! Kudos to you and all participating who made Literacy Day at the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden a HUGE success! We can’t wait until next year! “
