David Kapp is known for expressionistic street scenes, oil paintings that capture the dynamic spirit of the contemporary urban landscape of his native New York City. His work, both in painting and collage have been described by Ken Johnson in The New York Times as having “a dreamy, mildly hallucinatory air and a mood of Hopperesque melancholy.” His work can be found in museums and public collections throughout the United States and Europe, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas; the North Carolina Museum, Raleigh, North Carolina; and the Foundation Paribas, Paris, France.
