Author and historian Harvey E. Oyer III, whose great-great grandparents were one of the original pioneer settlers of what is today Palm Beach County, will discuss his latest book, Charlie and the Tycoon. “Charlie” is Charlie Pierce, the real-life character who is the protagonist of Oyer’s best-selling, award-winning children’s book series, The Adventures of Charlie Pierce. The “Tycoon” is Henry M. Flagler, a contemporary of artist Laura Woodward and the man whose vision radically altered South Florida forever. Oyer will share the story of Flagler’s grand vision for Florida, Oyer’s family’s interactions with Flagler, and the modern-day impacts and challenges for Florida resulting from Flagler’s vision.
Immediately following the program, Harvey E. Oyer III will be signing copies of his book, which will be for sale at the special price of $10.
